Dance, Acrobatics This workshop explores the relationship between body, gravity, space and imagination. Through universal movement principles, we will move through the connections between dance, martial arts, meditation, partnering, soft acrobatics and improvisation. The practice approaches movement as both a meaningful craft and a personal artistic expression. We search for movement that can be both precise and alive.
The work is divided into four main pillars:
Warm-up and moving meditation
Creativity and improvisation
Partnering and communication
Technique and risk management
The pedagogical approach allows each participant to work according to their own physical experience and capacity. Rather than pursuing movement only through achievement or performance, the workshop encourages participants to deepen their relationship with process, perception and long-term development. The practice welcomes both professionals and beginners, proposing an environment where challenge and accessibility can coexist.
WONDERGROUND
We are two artists in dialogue since 2019.
We chose to work together because we unbalance one another. Our perspectives on the world differ, and in that tension, something vital appears.
Our common ground is in seeing dance as a vehicle to return to our senses and imagination.
We are drawn to intense, captivating and physically rich performances, guided by a constant search for aesthetic depth. We create visionary universes through the relationship between movement, materiality and place, seeking the hidden stories that the body holds, often about the human condition and its nature.
We approach movement through forces, actions and expression. Our diverse backgrounds allow us to think outside the box, expanding our vision for what a ‘movement language’ can become. Martial Arts, physical theatre, butoh, improvisation, partnering, meditation and acrobatics are composing our physical practice.
We are both avid readers, with a deep interest in ephemeral architecture, visual arts, eastern and western philosophy, and mythology. We like to create for theatres and non-conventional spaces.
Our artistic practice investigates the threading line between the natural, the artificial and the cultural. Lately, we have been immersed in what we call contemporary animism, which means to discover the spirit in materials, landscapes, forces and events.
We live art as an act of repair, transformation and freedom.
In 2022 we built 'The Island', our own atelier in the natural outskirts of Barcelona, where we practice, create and teach workshops. We teach and share our movement approach - 'Movement Archery', with dancers and movers of all backgrounds and levels around the world. Event in English Spain
