Join the team from "A Stroll On Our Shoulders" in a workshop exploring acrobatic techniques with a performance focus. We'll share some of the methodologies we use in creating acrobatic sequences and using the site as inspiration in performance creation. No experience needed but a background in physical activity will be beneficial - circus, acrobatics, gymnastics, dance, etc.
Ali Stanger (England), graduate of The National Centre for Circus Arts, London, and Henrik Gard (Sweden), formed contemporary Irish Acrobatic company Cikada Circus in 2018, and have created several shows together, touring their shows both nationally and internationally. Over the years they have received generous support from the Arts Council Ireland, Arts Council Northern Ireland, Culture Ireland, Waterford Spraoi Festival, Nenagh Arts Centre, Festival of Fools, Ulster University, and the Shared Island Initiative.
Pauline Talon (Switzerland) and Liam Carmody (Ireland), graduates of Centre Regional des Arts du Cirque, Lomme, formed French company Duo Les Mains en L'Air in 2021. They work extensively around Europe and Worldwide, in renowned companies such as Circ Pistolet, and Cie XY, specialising in ensemble acrobatics.
The foursome got together after working alongside eachother in Cie XY's project 'After the Rain' in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, in 2023, where Liam and Pauline arrived under Cie XY, and Ali and Henrik were part of the local Irish cast. This show, 'A Stroll on our Shoulders' is a legacy to 'After the Rain' and the impact it had on both the audience and the performers.
