Today, the second official press conference for the 2025 edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) was held at the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre in Sibiu.

The event was hosted by Constantin Chiriac, President of FITS and General Director of TNRS, who shared the latest updates regarding this year’s edition of the festival, including highlights from the upcoming special events.

FITS will take place in Sibiu from June 20 to June 29, and the theme of this 32nd edition is THANK YOU.

Constantin Chiriac presented the most important special events scheduled for the festival and extended his gratitude to all partners and institutions involved, emphasizing that an edition of such magnitude would not have been possible without their support.

“This edition has truly tested every skill we've developed over the past 32 years, and we are proud to present to audiences in Sibiu and around the world no less than 841 events. It’s an extraordinary edition, featuring world-renowned names such as Bill Murray, Kathleen Turner, and Nobel Prize laureate Wole Soyinka—artists we've been working for years to bring to Sibiu,” said FITS President Constantin Chiriac.

During the press conference, both the audience present in the theatre and those following online via Facebook and YouTube listened to messages from key national and international figures, including the Mayor of Sibiu, the Minister of Education and Research, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President of the Sibiu County Council, the President of the Romanian Cultural Institute, and numerous diplomatic representatives: ambassadors from Israel, Germany, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Norway, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, France, Poland, Brazil, the Netherlands, and the People's Republic of China. In addition, messages were shared by the Cultural Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Romania, the President of the UNESCO General Conference, and the Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO.

Another key announcement was the release of additional tickets for several performances. These tickets will go on sale Friday, May 30, at 12:00 PM. The performances with newly available tickets include: Iona directed by Silviu Purcărete (an additional show on June 26, 3:00 PM), The FITS Opening Concert with Alexandru Tomescu, FUTUR4, Neandertal, No Yogurt for the Dead, Death at the Revue Theatre, The Scarlet Princess, Blood Wedding, The Glass Garden, The Seer, The Cello, It’s Only the End of the World, Listen to Me (with Kathleen Turner), Beauty Beyond Words, Coup Fatal, 11 Warriors, Flamenco Fusion, Viva!!, Electra, and The House of Bernarda Alba.

New in 2025: a film section presented in partnership with the American Independent Film Festival, featuring two films each from the careers of Kathleen Turner and Bill Murray. Acclaimed film critics Fionnuala Halligan and Peter Bradshaw will be present in Sibiu to introduce the screenings and hold discussions with audiences about the lives and careers of these iconic actors.
