Day Four Brings “ORIGIN” by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, “The Cello” by Jo Strømgren Kompani, “Nijinsky. Agony and Ecstasy,” and “Mirage” on Nicolae Bălcescu pedestrian street

The 32nd edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival stretches across ten days and boasts over 842 events—from theatre and dance to music, circus, exhibitions, and more. More than 5,000 artists from 82 countries are expected in Sibiu between June 20–29, 2025.

In keeping with tradition, FITS Recommends serves up daily highlights to help festivalgoers make inspired choices. On June 23, the fourth day of FITS, audiences can look forward to:

  •         ORIGIN – part of the “JTI Encounters” series, performed by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam
  •         The Cello by Jo Strømgren Kompani, a kaleidoscopic exploration of Nordic identity through movement and memory
  •         Nijinsky. Agony and Ecstasy, an intimate portrait of Vaslav Nijinsky’s genius and inner turmoil
  •         Mirage, blending moments of fluid motion and haunting stillness on both pneumatic and traditional stilts, staged along Nicolae Bălcescu pedestrian street

Also on Monday, the Sibiu Performing Arts Market—the Fesitval’s dedicated industry platform—officially opens its doors.

The fourth day of the festival means around 20 countries presenting dozens of exciting performances, 10 free outdoor performances, 6 performances broadcast online. The least expensive ticket on the third day costs just 30 lei.
