In this city of firsts, where theatre came to life for the very first time in the Romanian space back in 1788, it feels almost natural that, 237 years later, Sibiu would once again be the birthplace of innovation – this time as home to RaColaj, the first group of collage artists in Romania.
And it is also in Sibiu that this collective now brings a new, world-first premiere: an exhibition of collages translated into sound, in an utterly unique way. An innovative form of artistic expression, where image and sound come together to tell a multisensory story, opening up new possibilities for interaction between the arts.
“Sun(t) Bine Mersi” is a groundbreaking project that sits at the crossroads of art and science, offering a fascinating synesthetic experience in which visual and auditory perception blend into a unique harmony. The project transforms the electromagnetic imprint of colors from each collage—manually created by the artists of the RaColaj group—into an original musical composition dedicated to each individual work. This fusion of science and art not only explores the complexity of human creativity, but also celebrates the freedom of expression across diverse artistic domains.
By scanning the QR codes attached to each piece, visitors can listen to exclusive soundscapes that bring an added layer of meaning to every collage. Thus, “Sun(t) Bine Mersi” becomes more than just a visual exhibition—it evolves into a space of sensory exploration, where sound becomes image and image transforms into sound.
This project highlights the rich complexity of the human ability to create and interpret the surrounding world, through the collaboration of the two fundamental aspects of our existence: the technical-scientific and the emotional-artistic.
We invite you to let yourself be carried away by the rhythm of this sensory journey!
