The exhibition "The Ticket Puncher’s Soul" invites you into a space of reflection where the mundane fragments of everyday life are transformed into art through the technique of analog collage. This project by the RACOLAJ collective recovers the nostalgic aesthetic of vintage bus travels—the "gazing through the window" of the child we once were, the memories of the adult today, and the raw urban textures—offering a warm, tactile alternative in a digitized world. These unique works serve as a manifesto for "recycling" reality, where scissors and glue recompose Sibiu’s visual identity into profound aesthetic experiences.
Scheduled from June 19 to 28, this indoor exhibition provides the perfect setting to explore up close the fine details and social message behind each composition. Beyond the viewing experience, visitors are invited to engage in related events, such as guided tours and artist talks, designed to dissolve the boundary between artist and community. It is an invitation to pause time and rediscover, in the heart of the festival, the poetry hidden within the most pragmatic moments of the day.
RACOLAJ Founded in 2019 in Sibiu, RACOLAJ is the first analogue collage collective in Romania. What began as a civic initiative rooted in a passion for paper-cuting has grown into a vibrant community, now bringing together around 15 active members from diverse professional backgrounds. The group promotes collage as an intuitive artistic practice based on traditional techniques—cuting, pasting, and recombining fragments—without digital intervention. Their creative process embraces chance and free association, resisting conventional boundaries of style or hierarchy. Over the years, RACOLAJ has become a landmark on the cultural scene, participating in major events such as the Sibiu International Theatre Festival – FITS, Sibiu International Marathon, the International Street Art Festival, Sibiu Guitar Meeting, and the Collage Festival Bucharest, as well as exhibiting in prestigious venues like the Brukenthal National Museum. For RACOLAJ, collage is more than just a technique: it is a shared language that connects people and translates contemporary realities into unexpected visual forms. Remaining an open and inclusive collective, the group invites anyone curious to explore the "recycling" of reality through art.
