Maria Balabas proposes an exploration of natural sounds and the way we interact with them. Sound walks create a subjective space where hearing is the main sense. A group walk, with attention to the surrounding sound environment as well as the inner sound life, is a performative way of channelling attention into a personal narrative, akin to contemporary dramatic writing. The sound walk is the core around which the whole event of PORTAL is built.
