For professional artists in Sibiu, the month of June brings one of the most important exhibition projects of the year: the Sibiu UAP Salon, organized within the framework of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. This year’s edition revolves around a theme of profound emotional and symbolic resonance – “Thank You!” – a generous and open concept, allowing for multiple interpretations and artistic approaches. This conceptual axis has been embraced with authenticity and creativity by Sibiu's visual artists – painters, sculptors, graphic artists, photographers, ceramicists, and multimedia creators – who have gathered around the idea of gratitude as an expression of a deep, living relationship with oneself, with others, with nature, and with transcendence.
The works brought together in this exhibition stand as testimonies to a plural artistic endeavour, probing into emotional states, affective responses, and diverse existential positions. Ranging from dramatic, tense, and introspective expressions to compositions imbued with serenity, formal clarity, and optimism, the artists propose a visual cartography of both inner and outer worlds. In this context, the theme of gratitude becomes the invisible thread that binds together these varied visual languages, transfiguring the artistic gesture into an act of awareness and communion.
The exhibition does not impose a singular reading of the idea of “thank you”; rather, it allows it to manifest freely and diffusely, across a spectrum of registers: from the celebration of loved ones or the community, to reflections on a relationship with the Divine or the human condition itself. Each work thus becomes an act of presence, a visual sign of gratitude, and together they build a visual polyphony in which gratefulness emerges as an aesthetic, emotional, and ethical message.
Once again, the visual artists of Sibiu contribute to the richness of the visual spectacle that is FITS, reinforcing messages of friendship, gratitude, and the joy of being together.
