“Caligula” by Albert Camus was directed by Ivan Uryvsky and premiered at the Ivan Franko National Drama Theatre. The Roman emperor Caligula, who ruled during the era of Julius-Claudius, is a symbol of unpunished despotism and immorality. The play highlights the need to eliminate dictatorship and tyranny throughout the world. Petro Bogomazov created a magnificent set for the play, which encourages thoughtful reflection on morality and power. According to the play, Caligula is an all-powerful dictator who decides when events should occur and thrives on the lives and deaths of others. A show about the power of madness and the madness of power. A necessary and painful reconsideration of a present threatened by the spectre of self-destruction.
