Biserica Evanghelică din Sibiu: arheologie și istorie

The exhibition presents to the general public the most significant archaeological discoveries made between 2018 and 2020 during the restoration and conservation works carried out at the Evangelical Cathedral of Sibiu. These investigations fundamentally reshaped our understanding of the monument’s history, revealing successive stages of construction spanning nearly a thousand years.

Through original artifacts and informative exhibition panels, visitors will discover the remains of the 12th-century Romanesque basilica, the various phases in the development of the Gothic church, as well as scientifically researched tombs and crypts. The exhibition also features a remarkable collection of artifacts, including coins, rings, metalwork elements, and a number of exceptional objects belonging to the Evangelical Church, now preserved in the collections of the Brukenthal National Museum.
