During the workshop participants will learn a series of exercises that supply tools to improve all aspects of vocal production. We will identify proper alignment and release muscular tension, increase breath control, and connect breath to sound and volume. We will explore techniques to expand resonance and range, to focus and place pitch, move through vocal breaks with even tone, and practice portamento, dynamics, agility, and collaborative singing. Participants will be given insight into the analysis and interpretation of dramatic text and music, as well as explore techniques and methods for character development. Our final hours will be spent in practical application of the method to song. Participants are asked to arrive in comfortable clothing, appropriate for floor work, with sheet music for a song of their choice, and colourful writing implements. Participants may sing acapella or supply recorded accompaniment if they wish to be coached publicly.
