“Occident Express Ro” shows the recent history of a people trying to forget its own past, aspiring to the miraculous West while constantly keeping in touch with its roots. It is a story about ordinary people, a permanent balance between the occidental and oriental words, between the West and the East.

Matei Vișinec, about Orient Express: “For many people in Western Europe, the East and the Balkans remain enigmatic territories, hard to be seen without certain labels… By writing Occident Express I wanted to turn the spotlight on some of these communication deficiencies and clichés through the language of theatre.”

A tender, nostalgic and bitter performance that, while delivering the poetic atmosphere specific to Vișniec, speaks with trenchant sincerity about the destiny of a nation.
