Suwa-no-Yataro, from Naniwa, organizes a memorial service for his deceased child's 13th anniversary. Meanwhile, in Kyoto, a mother celebrates her son's 13th birthday. The son unexpectedly recalls his past life, mentioning his father's name as Suwa-no-Yataro. The mother and child embark on a journey to Naniwa to find him, and arrive at the very temple where Yataro mourns his son. Recognizing Yataro, the boy is overcome with emotion, leading to a heartfelt reunion. Aware of the ephemeral nature of their reunion, they part ways, holding onto the profound love and compassion they share. Text: Akihiro Yamamoto & Noboru Yasuda
