The concert features pieces for voice and organ from the works of G. F. Händel, R. Wagner, F. Poulenc, and in particular Louis Vierne. The music is inspired by both prayers and the mythological creatures that decorate the façade of the Notre-Dame Cathedral, which played a decisive role in the career of composer Louis Vierne. He was one of the most highly-regarded composers of the French symphonic style – he was the organist of the Notre-Dame de Paris for 37 years, having adopted a unique musical style with an impressionistic quality.
