Maia Morgenstern

One of the best-known and most-appreciated Romanian theatre and film actresses, Maia Morgenstern was born in 1962, in Bucharest, in a Jewish family. She studied at the Theatre and Film Academy, then performed at Teatrul Tineretului in Piatra Neamț until 1988. After that, she collaborated with the Jewish State Theatre in Bucharest, later joining the “Ion Luca Caragiale” National Theatre. Some of her most notable theatre roles include Lola in The Blue Angel and Kathleen Hogan in Park Your Car in Harvard Yard. She is especially known to the Romanian audience for her roles in the films Balanța, Cel mai iubit dintre pământeni, Patul lui Procust, Orient Express or The Passion of the Christ. In 2010, Maia Morgenstern was appointed Romanian Ambassador of the Alliance of Civilisation.
