FITS receives the Castelló Culture and Festivals Award

The Sibiu International Theater Festival (FITS), having reached its 30th edition this year, receives on Friday, in Spain, the Castelló Culture and Festivals Award (Premio Cultura y Fiestas Ciudad de Castelló) awarded by the Castelló de la Plana City Hall and the Moros d'Alqueria Foundation.

"We are delighted that the Sibiu International Theater Festival, in addition to many other recognitions, is now receiving the recognition of one of the most important festivals in Spain. The City Hall of Castelló de la Plana and the Moros d'Alqueria Foundation decided this year that the prize, which established the importance of other great community events, such as the Carnival of Venice, the Carnival of London, the Oktoberfest in Munich, the Festival of Lights in Lyon, shall receive this international recognition. We are proud to be able to bring this distinction to Sibiu, through the voice of Mayor Amparo Marco Gual - whom we invited to this year's edition of FITS, together with the management of the Moros d'Alqueria Foundation, in such a way that we can develop joint projects between the two communities", declared Constantin Chiriac, president of the Sibiu International Theater Festival and general director of the "Radu Stanca" National Theater of Sibiu.

The gala during which the prize will be awarded will take place in the Main Theater in Castelló, starting 7:30 p.m., and the FITS award will be presented to Irina Marin, the Romanian consul in Castelló de la Plana.

The mayor of the town of Castelló de la Plana, Amparo Marco Gual, conveyed to the president Constantin Chiriac the fact that the decision to award this year's award to FITS "recognizes the importance of this theater festival in Central and Eastern Europe and establishes it as one of the most prestigious worldwide".

This year, the Sibiu International Theater Festival reaches its 30th edition and will take place between June 23 and July 2, 2023, the theme being Wonder.
